Like many other couples in 2015, their story began with two swipes to the right and the words “It’s a match!”  After a few days of conversation covering important topics, from day-long stakeouts of gentrified cookie stores to Rihanna’s discography, Kevin asked Nick on a date to a coffee shop.

They really hit it off, bonding over shared fandoms, experiences at Columbia, and mutual respect for Rihanna. Nick was so smitten that he asked Kevin for a second date on the subway home. And if you think that’s too fast, the second date saw introductions between Kevin and Nick’s aunt’s cats.

Flash forward to today, after many trips to Miami, Queenstown MD, Greenport, Long Island, and The Big Easy, several weddings, one graduation, a couple of career moves, and 5 rats, they both knew it was time to get serious.

Kevin proposed first, which was a very Kevin thing to do, and made life rife with anxiety for the next few months since any slight surprises put him in a “am I getting proposed to?” mode. Nick proposed on Christmas Day, during an unassuming walk in the park, which did take Kevin by surprise.
